Govt issues draft notifications related to Central Motor Vehicles Rules
The government has issued a draft Notification outlining proposed amendments to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. According to the notification, the draft updates technical fuel classifications under emission and type-approval standards to reflect higher ethanol and biofuel blending targets. Key changes in the draft notification include Hydrogen fuel classification revised from Hydrogen + CN to Hydrogen + CNG, Gross vehicle weight threshold raised from 3,000 kg to 3,500 kg in select categories, aligning with the E20 rollout, Biodiesel references upgraded from B10 to B100 and Emission testing parameters and technical notations standardised.
