The order of the Finance Ministry regarding one-car for one official has led to uneasiness among several heads of departments who were habitual in using more than one vehicle. The order categorically states that an officer entitled to a govt staff car cannot be allotted more than one official vehicle, even when they hold additional charge of another ministry, department, public sector undertaking, or autonomous body. According to sources, in Delhi, official vehicles were being badly misused. In most cases one car was used by the official and rest by his family members about which several complaints were received.
